Frequently asked questions
What is AddPower?
AddPower is developing a powerful, universally applicable drive solution that allows for the remote control of building block cars from various manufacturers. Our goal: Every Technic building block car should be able to drive like the original in the shortest possible time.
Why do we do this? Because we want to make the experience of cars and motorsport holistically accessible – not just the driving, but also the fascinating part of vehicle construction.
AddPower is a six-person team from Munich – with a great passion for technology, motorsport and innovative products.
How does the drive work?
The AddPower system consists of a compact drive kit to which wheel hub motors are connected. These motors are located directly in the wheels – resulting in a quiet, low-wear and very powerful drive solution that fits a wide variety of high-tech vehicles.
Installation is particularly easy: very little needs to be changed on the building block car itself. As much of the original structure as possible can be preserved.
What happens in a crash?
Crashes are part of the action – just like in real motorsport. Brick cars are more robust than many people think. In spectacular accidents, parts might fly off, but they usually don't break, so you can quickly put the car back together and keep driving!
Repairs – whether small or large – are part of the AddPower experience and contribute to the appeal of “real model motorsport”.
Can I retrofit the kit into a vehicle that has already been built?
Yes! Our drive system is specifically designed to be quickly retrofitted into already assembled models – and in record time.
Does this drive system really fit in all cars?
Our drive kit is universally designed and does not differentiate between individual models. It is compatible with a wide variety of Technic building block cars.
How much does the kit cost? When can it be purchased?
The AddPower kit is currently still in the final stages of development, so prices are not yet fixed.
If you would like to be among the first to order and test a kit, please get in touch with us.
The planned sales launch is spring 2026 – perfect for driving fun in good weather during the summer.
When and where can I test drive the cars?
We regularly organize driving events in Munich and the surrounding area. More locations will follow soon.
Subscribe to our newsletter to be the first to know about new events in your area.
Are parts glued?
No. We place great importance on ensuring that all building blocks are exclusively clamped together. This way, they remain fully reusable.
How fast does an AddPower car go?
The speed depends on the specific model, but speeds above 30 km/h are easily possible.
However, we are not only concerned with top speed – AddPower places particular emphasis on impressive driving dynamics, precise controllability and a true motorsport feeling.
How is the car controlled?
The vehicle is controlled via a classic RC handheld remote control – intuitive, precise and with a long range.
Do I need technical knowledge for the installation?
No. If you can build a brick car, you can also install the AddPower kit.
The conversion process is straightforward and explained step by step.
